Community Power
Community power is a new opportunity in New Hampshire for communities to take control of their energy purchases to achieve cost savings and other community goals, including consumer protections and renewable energy. Standard Power has teamed up with nationally experienced community power provider Good Energy to provide superior services at highly competitive rates for existing municipal clients and new customers, to develop their community power programs.
In a community power program, a municipality or county selects vendors and negotiates energy contracts on behalf of its entire community, including residents and businesses not already on competitive supply. Community members can join or leave at any time. Program success depends on high community participation that is determined by competitive costs, consumer protections, and great customer service, all familiar to the municipal buying groups already administered by Standard Power in New Hampshire and the hundreds of community power programs administered by Good Energy nationally.

Hydroelectric Group Net Metering Program
In New Hampshire, small hydroelectric facilities can sell power directly to consumers through a mechanism called Group Net Metering. This renewable power can be used by a customer just like electricity from competitive electricity suppliers. Standard Power’s growing program currently administers 20+ hydro facilities in New Hampshire, providing benefits for over 100 clients, reducing energy costs, and increasing the renewable portion of their power supply. Participating in group net metering supports local jobs and investment through local hydroelectric power development while impacting the environment far less than conventional fossil fuel generation sources

Electricity Supply Brokering
Most components of an electricity supply contract can be either fixed or variable. The supplier assumes the risk when fixing components, while the client assumes the risk with variable components. Fixed tends to be more expensive because the supplier must hedge against the inherent market risk.

Demand Response
The ISO-NE’s mandate is to maintain open transmission systems to ensure fair competition in the wholesale trade of electricity. Part of this mandate is managing and maintaining the Forward Capacity Market (FCM). The ISO-NE determines anticipated capacity three years in advance of the actual delivery year and seeks to procure the anticipated required capacity.
Real Time Demand Response (RTDR) pays businesses for their ability to reduce electricity use within 30 minutes of receiving ISO dispatch instructions. Standard Power can help facilitate clients participate in the ISO-NE’s Forward Capacity Market.

Efficiency Improvements
Line loss, wasted heat, reactive power, distortions, and harmonics can reduce effectiveness and efficiency of a customer’s facility. Standard Power’s initial step at evaluating areas of potential efficiency improvement is a comprehensive inspection of the client’s entire facility. Solar Generation
Onsite generation can be an effective tool in reducing capacity requirements.
